About the No Advice Needed category

Say it out loud without anyone trying to fix it. Posting here means you’re opting out of advice, and replying here means acknowledging and validating rather than solving.

If you post here, you’re opting out of advice. You don’t have to add a disclaimer, you don’t have to explain why, and you don’t have to soften it. That’s what the category is for.

If you reply here, the job is to acknowledge, not to fix. “That sounds exhausting” is a complete reply. “Yeah, same” is a complete reply. Reading it and moving on is fine too.

Suggestions, reframes, “have you tried,” and questions that are really suggestions wearing a hat: not here. Ask the Room is one click away and every other category on this site is fair game.

This isn’t a rule I’m enforcing because I’m strict about it. It’s a rule because most of us have spent our lives being troubleshot by people who meant well, and there should be one room where that’s off-limits.

One thing before you post. ndhub is open to the internet and indexed by search engines. What identifies you is almost never your username, it’s the combination of details: industry, team size, city, timing. Blur anything that only fits one person.

You can post under an anonymous account if you’d rather. It lives in your user preferences. Two things to know: it’s one persistent alter-ego rather than a fresh identity each time, so everything you post under it links together. And I’m the admin, so I can see which account is which. It hides you from other members. It does not hide you from Google, and it does not hide you from me.
